This Bachelor of Arts program provides students with comprehensive training in various dance styles such as ballet, modern, tap, and jazz, combined with business education. The curriculum covers essential subjects like choreography, dance history, teaching methods, and movement analysis. Graduates are equipped for careers in dance studio ownership, advanced studies in dance-related disciplines including arts management, dance therapy, or cultural dance studies, as well as private instruction roles.
Initial acceptance into the dance program requires an audition, with first-year students entering as provisional majors. Progress through technique levels demands consistent achievement - students must earn at least a B grade for one semester to advance between Ballet IV through VIII, and maintain similar standards in other technique courses.
Full admission to the BA Dance program within the School of Dance, Theatre and Arts Administration requires successful completion of the provisional year, positive work ethic evaluation, passing the Freshman Jury and Interview, and maintaining a 2.785 GPA in dance courses. Continuous technique class enrollment is mandatory until requirements are fulfilled, including two semesters of Ballet V for the Dance Studies with Business Cognate specialization.
