AYA educators enhance student learning by exploring subjects more thoroughly than in middle and secondary schools, while broadening their global awareness. The core program blends theoretical knowledge with practical application to ready candidates for certification. The AYA Education curriculum mandates specialization in one teaching discipline: Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Social Studies, Integrated Mathematics, or Science.
Before student teaching, candidates complete a minimum of 100 hours of field experiences across diverse educational environments.
Student teaching serves as the capstone experience, guided by both university faculty and mentor teachers.
An Adolescent to Young Adult degree prepares graduates to teach in middle and high schools while allowing specialization in preferred subjects like mathematics, science, social studies, or language arts.
