Theatre Arts majors at the undergraduate level engage in an in-depth exploration of the discipline, with specialized training in their chosen artistic focus. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts features two distinct pathways:
Design and Production Pathway
This pathway establishes fundamental knowledge across all aspects of theatrical design and technical production, equipping students for either graduate studies or professional roles in scenic, costume, lighting, or sound design, as well as technical direction and construction. Under faculty supervision, students progressively take on more significant design and production roles, ultimately leading to mainstage design opportunities and leadership positions for top performers. Graduates from this pathway consistently secure internships, graduate school placements, and professional positions.
Theatre Studies Pathway
The theatre studies program combines scholarly research with practical performance experience, examining theatre's role in diverse communities worldwide. Ideal for students passionate about directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, theatre management, or stage management, this curriculum builds a solid base for further academic pursuits or professional entry points. Additionally, it develops versatile skills applicable to various fields including education, legal professions, and business sectors.
