Theatre Arts majors at the undergraduate level engage in an in-depth exploration of the discipline, with specialized training in their chosen artistic focus. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts features two distinct pathways:
Design and Production Concentration
This concentration establishes a solid grounding across all aspects of theatrical design and technical production, equipping students for either graduate studies or professional roles in scenic, costume, lighting, or sound design, as well as technical direction and construction. Under faculty guidance, students progressively take on more significant design and production assignments, culminating in mainstage design projects and leadership roles for top-performing students. The Design and Production Concentration boasts a strong track record of preparing graduates for internships, advanced studies, and professional careers.
Theatre Studies Concentration
The theatre studies pathway combines scholarly research with practical performance work, examining theatre's role within diverse communities from local to international contexts. Ideal for students interested in directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, theatre management, or stage management, this curriculum offers robust preparation for either graduate programs or professional entry-level positions. Additionally, it develops versatile skills applicable to various fields including education, legal professions, and business sectors.
