Boston University's theater arts programs provide a distinctive chance for aspiring artists to explore various theatrical disciplines. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, theater arts majors engage in intensive study across acting, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, and design/production.
Prior to declaring a BFA major, all first-year School of Theatre students participate in the First Year Core program, selecting either the BFA Performance Core or BFA Design & Production Core.
As a BFA theater arts student, you'll craft a personalized academic journey blending hands-on experience and coursework, guided by dedicated faculty mentors. You'll develop authentic collaboration skills and learn to address meaningful social themes. The program features an internship, study abroad option, and a senior thesis project focused on in-depth practical work within a chosen specialization.
Graduates emerge with strong artistic and professional communication skills, prepared to make meaningful contributions to the theater world. Fostering each student's unique creative perspective is central to developing new theatrical works and positively impacting communities both locally and globally.
