Your academic and studio coursework is enhanced by hands-on experience during the production season. Every year, a selection of significant theater productions allows you to put classroom theories and techniques into practice.
The program emphasizes practical studio training, while the B.A. degree includes more lecture-based and discussion-oriented courses. Typically, a B.F.A. curriculum dedicates about two-thirds of its content to the arts, with the remaining third covering broader liberal arts subjects. In contrast, a Theatre B.A. often reverses this ratio. This intensive studio-focused approach provides graduates with a distinct advantage in the field. This unique emphasis sets our program apart from other institutions.
Acting students must fulfill an extra 40 credits, including courses like Voice and Movement Fundamentals, Acting Basics I and II, Intermediate Acting I and II, Scene Analysis, Makeup Techniques, Musical Theater Dance, and either Stage Combat or Musical Theater Vocal Performance. Additional specialized workshop credits are earned through participation in mainstage productions or student-led workshop performances.
