To earn a Master of Social Work degree, students can choose from four different pathways. Candidates with standard admission (without a prior bachelor's in social work) must complete 59 graduate-level social work credits, which includes 900 hours of field placement, starting in the fall semester. Full-time students in this track typically finish in two years, while part-time students usually complete the program in four years.
Those holding an undergraduate social work degree from a CSWE-accredited (or approved) program may qualify for advanced standing. These students generally begin in summer, completing 32 graduate social work credits along with 500 field placement hours. Full-time advanced standing students can graduate in one calendar year, while part-time students typically finish within two years.
