The Master of Music (M.M.) program provides specialized tracks in composition, conducting, music theory, musicology (each requiring 30 credit hours), pedagogy (36 credit hours), and performance (32 credit hours). This graduate degree requires completion of at least 30 credit hours, with performance majors presenting recitals, musicology and theory students submitting a thesis, and composition students creating original works. Musicology candidates must show competency in one foreign language before graduating. The pedagogy specialization (for strings or keyboard) offers a 36-credit, thesis-free option. Performance majors (in jazz, keyboard, collaborative piano, strings, voice, or winds/percussion) complete a 32-credit curriculum featuring two evaluated public recitals. Conducting students (choral, orchestral, or wind) may choose between two performances or one performance accompanied by a supporting research paper.
