The Master of Music (M.M.) program provides specialized tracks in composition, conducting, music theory, musicology (each requiring 30 credits), pedagogy (36 credits), and performance (32 credits). This graduate degree requires at least 30 credit hours, with performance majors presenting recitals, musicology and theory students completing a thesis, and composition students submitting an original work. Musicology candidates must show proficiency in a foreign language before graduating. The pedagogy specialization (for strings or keyboard) offers a 36-credit, thesis-free option. Performance majors (jazz, keyboard, collaborative piano, strings, voice, or winds/percussion) complete 32 credits with two evaluated public recitals. Conducting students (choral, orchestral, or wind) may choose between two performances or one performance accompanied by a supporting paper.
