Those enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program with a Photography specialization are urged to explore diverse courses and artistic mediums that can enhance their photographic practice while fostering creativity and novel approaches. Historically, participants have examined connections between photography and other disciplines like painting, video art, sculpture, and printmaking. When positions are open, candidates may serve as teaching assistants for photography and digital imaging courses, or take on roles in the Landmark Arts Office or as graduate coordinators for the SRO Photo Gallery, where they arrange exhibitions featuring artists nationwide at Texas Tech. During their concluding terms, graduate students should concentrate on developing a cohesive portfolio for their final exhibition, which will also form the basis for their thesis paper and presentation.
