The Master of Arts in Heritage and Museum Sciences program is based at the Museum of Texas Tech University. Students can choose between two specializations: Museum Science or Heritage Management. The Museum Science track provides in-depth training across all aspects of museum operations and theory. Those completing this specialization gain wide-ranging expertise in museum studies, qualifying them for diverse roles such as collections care, exhibit design, museum administration, and curation across various disciplines including anthropology, art, history, and natural sciences. The Heritage Management specialization focuses on comprehensive study in heritage preservation. Graduates from this track develop skills to strengthen community and national heritage values, promote conservation efforts, deliver public education programs, and utilize modern technology while maintaining cultural authenticity and ecological diversity. This concentration allows students to focus on specific interests like heritage policy, preservation techniques, educational outreach, or sustainable tourism. The curriculum combines academic theory with hands-on experience to develop future leaders in heritage conservation and management.
