This program provides advanced studies in literature, creative writing, and linguistics. Designed to go beyond undergraduate education, it offers a unique learning experience focused on deeper exploration and cultivating analytical skills. The English Department provides both in-person and online M.A. programs, with identical course offerings across both formats. The English M.A. is a 36-credit-hour degree with thesis and non-thesis tracks. The thesis path involves 30 hours of graduate coursework plus writing and defending a thesis (6 thesis credits). The non-thesis alternative requires 36 hours of graduate courses along with compiling and defending a portfolio containing revised essays or creative works, accompanied by a reflective analysis.
