The Master of Arts in Composition, Rhetoric, and Professional Writing is ideal for those aiming to teach in secondary schools or community colleges, or to enhance their professional writing skills for workplace settings. This program provides foundational training for various career paths including education, journalism, publishing, legal fields, technical communication, marketing, arts management, government work, or further academic study at the PhD level. To accommodate working professionals, the majority of graduate classes are held in late afternoon and evening time slots. The curriculum culminates in an M.A. thesis project focused on rhetoric, composition, or professional writing, where students conduct independent research or develop a professional writing portfolio with guidance from a two-member faculty advisory team.
