The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Special Education provides both online and some in-person learning options, with a 90-credit hour requirement. Core doctoral courses are typically offered year-round, even during summer terms. All doctoral-level classes can be completed online. Learners can select from several specialization tracks such as autism studies, applied behavior analysis, general assessment, orientation and mobility, vision impairment, deaf-blind education, or deaf education.

This program requires official GRE scores. Scores must no more than 5 years old at the time of application. Official GRE scores must be sent from Educational Testing Services (ETS) to the Texas Tech Graduate School.
TOEFL - The minimum TOEFL score required is 550 (paper-based version) or 79 (internet-based version).
IELTS - The minimum IELTS required score is an overall band score of 6.5 on the Academic version
