The Doctor of Philosophy in Interior and Environmental Design program mandates at least 73 credit hours (including 61 graduate-level hours and a minimum of 12 dissertation hours). Candidates work with their graduate advisory committee to create a personalized study plan. Foundational courses might be necessary. After finishing all required courses, students must pass a qualifying exam to advance to Ph.D. candidacy, following the Graduate School's regulations.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the Graduate School must be obtained through the Graduate Admissions Office. Admission to a graduate program in the area of Environmental Design is based on a review by the Director of Graduate Programs and the Graduate Faculties. No single criterion is used. Credentials are evaluated according to the following criteria.
GPA from undergraduate/graduate study
TOEFL scores (International Students)
GRE scores
Copies of official transcripts
Letters of recommendation (preferably from both academic and industry sources)
Portfolio Review
TOEFL - The minimum TOEFL score required is 550 (paper-based version) or 79 (internet-based version).
IELTS - The minimum IELTS required score is an overall band score of 6.5 on the Academic version
