The anthropology program encompasses the wide-ranging nature of the field, covering its three primary branches: archaeology, cultural anthropology, and physical anthropology. A distinctive feature of the curriculum includes international and regional field schools across these disciplines, complemented by state-of-the-art lab resources that facilitate research for both faculty and students.

To earn an anthropology degree, students must complete 34 credit hours in the subject, consisting of 10 introductory credits, 3 theory credits, 9 core credits, and 12 elective credits. Required introductory classes are ANTH 2100, ANTH 2300, ANTH 2301, and ANTH 2302. ANTH 3316 serves as the mandatory theory course. Students must also complete one foundational course from each subfield: either ANTH 3311 (human variation) or ANTH 3310 (human evolution), ANTH 3339 (cultural anthropology), and ANTH 3380 (archaeology). The remaining 12 credits consist of upper-level electives. The program accepts up to 9 transfer credits toward the major, and with department approval, 3 advanced credits from related fields may apply. Anthropology majors must achieve at least a C grade in all ANTH courses. The major allows up to 6 credits each for independent study and field courses.
