The Department of Anthropology at Texas State equips M.A. students for their professional journeys. Our graduate students actively participate in fieldwork programs and internships, partner with professors on research initiatives, engage in practical projects alongside experts, showcase their findings at conferences, and contribute to scholarly publications.
TXST Anthropology breaks down barriers - whether national boundaries, academic silos, or divisions between scholarly and applied anthropology. Our work combines theoretical foundations, data-driven approaches, practical applications, public engagement, and innovative methods to create meaningful change beyond traditional anthropological confines. The M.A. program's goal is to develop skilled, working anthropologists prepared for contemporary challenges. Students can specialize in archaeology, biological anthropology, or cultural anthropology.
