The Department of Anthropology provides a Master of Arts program in Applied Anthropology designed to equip students with professional skills in analyzing and tackling social inequality through anthropological frameworks and research techniques.
Specialization options encompass community development, cultural heritage studies, museum curation, health equity, environmental anthropology, food systems justice, socioeconomic behavior analysis, and humanitarian studies. Students will collaborate with their primary advisor to customize their academic path.
An additional specialization in Medical Anthropology focuses on employing medical anthropology principles to examine healthcare disparities, public health challenges, and medical systems.
The program aims to ensure graduates: (a) master advanced anthropological concepts, theories, and methodologies; (b) develop critical thinking skills for evaluating anthropological scholarship; (c) design and execute research projects addressing real-world anthropological challenges to improve community welfare; (d) refine professional communication of anthropological concepts; and (e) gain practical experience through conference participation, certifications, and professional development opportunities. All candidates must meet both the Graduate School's general requirements (including admission standards, academic policies, and degree criteria) and specific program expectations.
