The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program equips students with foundational skills for generalist social work, enhancing the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities through ethical practice. Learners will develop the ability to combine social work principles, expertise, core values, and practical abilities across various environments, emphasizing fairness in economic and social systems. Texas State University's BSW program holds full accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education. This degree follows a three-stage structure, requiring a distinct application for Phase II entry. Those accepted into Phase II can complete their major coursework either in-person or through online platforms. Upon graduation, students qualify for entry-level social work positions, state licensure applications, and advanced MSW programs. BSW professionals support diverse populations across multiple sectors including education, child protection, healthcare, social services, and public aid. Throughout the program, Social Work candidates must uphold rigorous academic performance, cultivate cultural competency, and provide guidance through life's challenges and changes.
