The Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media program provides coursework to equip students for diverse careers across media production sectors, including broadcast journalism, sports media, and digital streaming platforms. The curriculum focuses on developing expertise in journalism, audiovisual production, narrative techniques, media management, and programming through both theoretical instruction and practical training in our cutting-edge Live Oak Hall studio and student-operated KTSW radio station. Numerous students complement their studies with off-campus internships at professional media outlets. Alumni have established careers with major sports franchises, film studios, and broadcast networks across the country.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication holds accreditation from the ACEJMC, delivering a comprehensive curriculum that explores the core principles shared across advertising, digital media, broadcasting, journalism, and public relations disciplines.
Dedicated to academic excellence, the School fosters professional competencies, research methodologies, theoretical foundations, critical thinking, and ethical standards within an inclusive learning environment that develops socially conscious media practitioners and scholars. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication or a Bachelor of Science specializing in Advertising, Digital Media Innovation, Electronic Media, Journalism, or Public Relations.
Hands-on learning opportunities abound through campus media outlets like The University Star newspaper, KTSW 89.9 FM radio, Bobcat Update, Live Oak Studio productions, and Bobcat Promotions, supplemented by external internships. Students may also compete in national contests through prestigious organizations including the AAF, PRSA, TIPA, CBI, and SPJ.

First-time college applicants are required to graduate or have graduated from a foreign secondary school with an academic profile equivalent to that of a U.S. high school curriculum.
Graduate with the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.

We strongly encourage anyone who is not offered freshman admission to attend another college, complete 30 hours of transferable credit with a minimum GPA of a 2.25, and apply for transfer admission.
