Anthropology explores human cultural and biological diversity and development. This comprehensive field examines every dimension of human life. Fundamentally, anthropology seeks to understand human nature, our evolutionary journey, and the differences between populations. At Texas State, anthropology encompasses three primary branches: cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology, with academic programs available in each specialization.
Undergraduate students pursuing anthropology can select between two degree options: the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. The BA and BS programs in anthropology are designed to provide all students with foundational knowledge while offering adaptable training to meet individual academic objectives. Both degree paths enable students to engage in departmental field schools and internship opportunities.
