The Clinical/Activist MSW program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, equips graduates for advanced practice in social work, serving diverse communities across rural U.S./Mexico border areas and surrounding regions. This MSW program trains students for various roles in Social Work and Social Service environments. Graduates qualify to take Texas's master's level social work licensure exam, though other states may have different requirements.
Prospective students for both MSW tracks (detailed below) must complete university applications and fulfill all admission criteria, including specific program requirements. Visit the Admission to MSW link on the left for more details. Initial acceptance is conditional, requiring students to achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in their first semester to continue without restrictions.
The MSW program offers two study options:
Regular Track
Designed for applicants holding a bachelor's degree in a field other than social work or a BSW from a non-accredited institution.
Includes one year of foundational coursework.
Followed by one year of specialized clinical/activist social work training.
