The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Baccalaureate Nursing Program is built on the philosophy that caring forms the core of nursing practice. Each student is recognized as a distinct individual with diverse backgrounds, needs, and aspirations, possessing both the liberty and accountability to make thoughtful decisions. The nursing faculty uphold the principle that professional nurses require a robust grounding in arts, sciences, and humanities to inform their clinical judgment as care providers or coordinators (A.A.C.N., Essentials of Baccalaureate Nursing, 2008). To achieve this, students fulfill 62 semester hours of prerequisite coursework, followed by 58 semester hours in nursing-specific classes, totaling 120 program hours. The program offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through three pathways: Pre-licensure (Traditional/eLine/eLine military) for those pursuing initial RN licensure, RN-BSN Completion for licensed nurses advancing their education, and an Accelerated option. Graduates will embody the "Caring is the Essence of Nursing" philosophy in their practice, employing the nursing process and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance health outcomes for diverse populations. They will engage in purposeful communication and collaboration while demonstrating leadership through theory application, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making to improve healthcare delivery.
