The Department of Kinesiology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi aims to develop skilled professionals in athletic training, exercise science, physical education, sports management, pre-allied health fields, and sports conditioning for South Texas and other regions. Our faculty dedicate themselves to equipping students with career-ready skills through innovative teaching methods, meaningful research, and service to both academic and professional communities.
The BS in Kinesiology program offers concentrations in EC-12 Physical Education Certification, Exercise Science-Strength & Conditioning, and Pre-Allied Health. The curriculum encompasses General Education Core, Kinesiology Major Requirements, Special Emphasis Areas, and Foundation Courses. Those pursuing EC-12 Physical Education certification must fulfill both the Kinesiology degree requirements and the College of Education's teacher certification standards. The Exercise Science-Strength & Conditioning track prepares students for roles as fitness professionals, exercise experts, or strength coaches, while also providing strong groundwork for advanced studies in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and related fields. Graduates of this specialization gain expertise in structural kinesiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, and performance assessment.
The Pre-Allied Health specialization supports students aiming for careers in healthcare fields like cardiac rehab, dentistry, or physical therapy, while also serving as a foundation for graduate studies in exercise science. This program ensures graduates understand fundamental kinesiology concepts relevant to allied health professions.
