The Biomedical Sciences Program benefits the Coastal Bend region, Texas, and the nation by equipping students for careers in health services, research, forensic science, genetic engineering, biotechnology, bioinformatics, product sales, and analytical services. While some biomedical roles are accessible with a bachelor's degree, most necessitate additional coursework or a graduate degree. Foundational biology and chemistry classes foster critical thinking in the sciences, while specialized courses enhance these abilities for practical problem-solving. This blend offers a solid theoretical base and a focus on applied biomedical sciences. The program's two tracks ready students for advanced studies in health professions (such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy) or related scientific fields, including forensic science.
This track caters to students aiming to pursue further education in professional schools (e.g., medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant).
