The Biomedical Sciences Program benefits the Coastal Bend region, Texas, and the nation by equipping students for careers in health services, research, forensic science, genetic engineering, biotechnology, bioinformatics, product sales, and analytical services. While some biomedical roles are accessible with a bachelor's degree, most necessitate additional post-baccalaureate studies or a graduate degree. Foundational biology and chemistry courses cultivate critical thinking in the core sciences, while specialized classes enable students to refine these abilities and apply them to real-world challenges. This integrated approach offers a robust conceptual base and emphasizes practical biomedical applications. The program's two tracks ready students for advanced health profession programs (such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, and occupational therapy) or for careers and graduate studies in forensic science and allied fields.
