The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Theatre Program aims to equip students with essential skills for careers as Theatre educators or professionals, or for advanced graduate studies. Our program fosters meaningful engagement with Theatre as an expressive and collaborative art form. Students develop creative and analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and artistic exploration in an environment that upholds integrity, embraces both success and failure, and values diverse perspectives in pursuit of artistic authenticity. Our comprehensive theatre season functions as both a training ground for students and a cultural asset for the campus and South Texas community.
The BA in Theatre with Acting/Directing or Design/Technical concentrations requires students to: Show proficiency in historical research and script analysis, Present on theatre's historical and cultural aspects during faculty evaluations, Defend their senior capstone project and professional portfolio (including headshot, resume, and career strategy) to faculty. The Teaching Certificate concentration requires students to: Demonstrate historical/script analysis skills, Present on theatre's cultural dimensions, and Articulate performance perceptions during faculty evaluations - all supported by examples from University Theatre productions.
