Since 1970, when the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board authorized master's and doctoral programs in toxicology, TAMU has been acknowledged for its toxicology research and education. The Interdisciplinary Faculty of Toxicology (IFT) oversees the academic aspects of this program, bringing together faculty and graduate students from various departments, colleges, and affiliated labs. This program spans multiple fields including veterinary medicine, health sciences, environmental studies, chemistry/biochemistry, biology, and physics. Prospective students must complete advanced biology and/or chemistry coursework (or equivalent) and gain approval from both the IFT and a participating department. Competitive graduate research assistantships and scholarships are offered to qualified candidates.
