The Urban & Regional Sciences Ph.D. program at Texas A&M cultivates expertise in addressing society's most critical challenges. As a student, you'll develop into a social scientist grounded in urban, city, and community planning theories.
This doctoral program equips you with specialized research skills applicable to planning, design, and land development challenges. Through comprehensive quantitative and qualitative methods, you'll analyze the relationships between social-ecological systems and constructed environments.
Our Ph.D. program ranks among the nation's largest, offering an unparalleled variety of research opportunities. The program's scale enables collaboration with peers pursuing related studies while providing chances to guide undergraduates through teaching or research supervision.
From day one, you'll receive personalized guidance from a faculty mentor matched to your research focus. These relationships continue throughout your studies, with faculty conducting both federally-funded investigations and community-engaged activist research.
Students must have a master’s degree before beginning the Ph.D. program. Master’s students already in our department may be able to count some courses toward the Ph.D. if accepted.
