The Doctoral Program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology prepares students to excel as both researchers and practitioners. Our curriculum emphasizes developing robust research capabilities alongside a deep understanding of I/O psychology theory, equipping graduates for success in both academic and professional settings. The program aims to strengthen its standing as a nationally recognized hub for scholarly achievement in I/O psychology through cutting-edge fundamental and practical research. Active collaboration between faculty and students on research initiatives forms a cornerstone of our approach.
While primarily focused on preparing students for academic careers through rigorous research training, our graduates also secure roles in diverse sectors including corporate research, government agencies, and consulting. Since 2000, our alumni have achieved a 40% placement rate in academia and 60% in applied research positions. Notable academic placements include institutions like Rice University, University of Illinois, and University of Wisconsin-River Falls, while industry placements span organizations such as Google, Coca-Cola Enterprises, and the U.S. Air Force's Special Operations Command. For ten consecutive years, every graduate has secured employment immediately after completing the program.
