Our college and department envision transforming lives. The K-12 Educational Administration Program (EAP) specifically aims to: (a) develop leaders for Texas and national public, charter, and private schools, and (b) equip individuals for research and teaching roles in universities, colleges, institutes, or educational agencies. In response to evolving educational landscapes, our K-12 EAP faculty commits to recruiting, mentoring, and training exceptionally talented, culturally conscious future leaders for superintendent, principal, and professorial positions. Achieving these objectives requires cultivating change-makers who can enhance teaching methodologies while advancing educational equity across all levels. The program must successfully bridge theory and practice, using research to address real-world administrative challenges. We believe both school administrators and academics must master reflective practice, blending scholarly knowledge with hands-on expertise.
The PhD in Educational Administration develops university-level leaders. Those interested in school improvement research should consider this program. We recommend full-time enrollment to facilitate research development and agenda-setting. This degree equips graduates with culturally responsive leadership abilities for teaching, research, and policy analysis roles in higher education. Tailored for aspiring academics, it prepares scholars for research-focused careers in universities, colleges, and educational organizations. Students collaborate with distinguished faculty specializing in areas like school accountability, education law, leadership studies, organizational theory, policy analysis, school finance, and education reform. Unlike cohort-based programs, this PhD emphasizes full-time engagement, immersing students in rigorous research traditions that prioritize mentorship and social justice. Beyond coursework, participants co-teach with faculty advisors for two semesters. The K-12 EAP faculty ensures PhD candidates acquire necessary university-level competencies, encouraging applicants to pursue graduate assistantships for collaborative research opportunities.
