The Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program offers students a thorough educational journey combining classroom instruction with hands-on research training. Participants develop essential knowledge and abilities to thrive in various biomedical research professions.
CVMBS professors from all five academic departments guide BIMS PhD candidates through four specialized training pathways, corresponding to the college's key research domains. These pathways allow customization to match each student's specific research interests. PhD candidates must also complete non-course requirements as they achieve academic milestones.
A crucial component of the program involves immersive research work supervised by faculty advisors. CVMBS researchers explore diverse subjects, from fundamental biomedical principles to veterinary clinical practices and human/environmental health applications. This broad research scope enables graduate students to pursue projects across numerous scientific fields.
