The Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. with a Cardiovascular Physiology specialization offers a tailored curriculum of advanced coursework and hands-on research under the guidance of faculty from the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease (CVMD) Signature Research Program. The CVMD program aims to bolster research efforts at UNM Health Sciences Center, where scientists tackle critical clinical questions related to cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. This NHLBI-funded training initiative provides comprehensive physiological education, with research emphasis spanning vascular biology, hypertension, respiratory conditions, metabolic disorders, aging processes, cardiac conditions, renal diseases, and cerebrovascular events.
