Pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) in interdisciplinary engineering (ITDE) enables students to build distinctive skill sets and focus on areas not typically covered in conventional departmental degree programs. These specializations can be motivated by emerging technical fields or by a student's interest in a comprehensive interdisciplinary education. Graduates of the ITDE program acquire a tailored set of abilities derived from a customized curriculum.
Beyond the required coursework, the remaining specialization credits can be fulfilled through either a pre-approved study plan or a student-designed program approved by the ITDE Advisory Committee.
Many students enrich their learning by engaging in cooperative education and professional internships, which provide engineering employment opportunities while pursuing their degree. Various study abroad programs also offer chances to gain international experience and perspectives. Involvement in student chapters of professional and honor societies presents leadership roles, collaborative activities, and educational experiences beyond the classroom. Additionally, many students take part in research projects via individual directed studies courses under faculty guidance.
