The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture (TLAC) provides a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Education. Graduating from this program qualifies students for Texas Education Agency-approved teaching certification in mathematics and science for grades 4-8, along with English as a second language. Prospective educators aiming to teach math and science to 4th-8th graders should reach out to a TLAC undergraduate advisor located in Harrington Tower.
All academic programs within the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture align with the latest Texas state educational standards. Students are required to meet with a TLAC advisor (located in Heaton Hall) before registering for classes each semester or term.
You are an international freshman if you:
are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or
are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas and
are a student without college credit or
earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)
English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
Minimum TOEFL i-BT score of 80
Minimum TOEFL Essentials score of 8.5
Minimum IELTS Academic test score of 6.0 overall band (Texas A&M University does not accept the IELTS General test)
