Educating students in modern science classrooms demands expertise across biology, chemistry, physics, and related fields. Pursue an Integrated Sciences degree to earn certification for teaching science to middle and high school students. As a science educator, you'll shape future professionals in scientific fields, healthcare, engineering, and science education. Through the Integrated Sciences Education program, you'll build comprehensive subject knowledge to effectively impart scientific concepts to your pupils.
This program offers specialized tracks in:
Biology
Chemistry
Earth/Space Science
Physics
While covering all fundamental science areas, your studies will primarily emphasize your chosen specialization.
Your academic journey starts with a First Year Experience course introducing YSU and the Integrated Sciences Education curriculum. An introductory education class will give you hands-on experience tutoring younger students. Additional coursework includes school observations, collaborative teaching, and independent lesson instruction. Before student teaching, you'll complete over 100 preclinical hours in your focus area. The program culminates with a full-semester student teaching internship.
