The Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.) program holds accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training, equipping students to pursue certification as athletic trainers while advancing clinical practice and education. Launched in Summer 2016, this program was developed in alignment with the CAATE, Board of Certification, and National Athletic Trainers' Association mandate to shift toward requiring a master's degree for certification eligibility. These organizations acknowledge the expanding responsibilities of athletic trainers. Certified professionals may explore Temple's Master of Science in Kinesiology with an Athletic Training focus. As Temple University transitioned from its B.S.A.T. program, it introduced this professional M.S.A.T. degree. With over three decades of leadership in athletic training education, Temple maintains its innovative approach by adopting this degree ahead of the 2022 mandate. The university's prime location, exceptional fieldwork opportunities, alumni connections, pioneering healthcare research, and committed faculty create a distinctive and competitive learning environment.
M.S.A.T. graduates gain the ability to: implement professional practice principles in clinical settings, master athletic training competencies, advocate for improved patient care, uphold ethical and culturally aware standards, contribute to the profession's growth, communicate effectively with healthcare teams and administrators, and utilize evidence-based methods to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
