The interdisciplinary Master of Music in Vocal Arts caters to graduate students seeking to advance their training in solo and choral performance while preparing for careers in music education, performance, or community engagement. This program expands traditional graduate vocal studies beyond classical studio training. Participants engage in core requirements including private voice instruction and choral ensembles, with optional coursework available in choral studies, music pedagogy, musical theater, and vocal/opera performance.

Unlike the specialized Master of Music in Voice Performance designed for aspiring professional classical vocalists, the Vocal Arts MM provides flexibility to explore diverse vocal disciplines such as choral conducting, music instruction, or theatrical performance. This curriculum blends the discipline of classical vocal technique with the opportunity to specialize in alternative musical styles.
