The Master of Music program builds upon students' artistic education through advanced specialization and critical examination.
To earn this degree, students must complete at least 30 graduate credit hours (33 for Music Theory majors). The program allows transfer of up to six graduate credits from other institutions, provided these credits fulfill LSU's course requirements and receive approval from the relevant Area Coordinator. All degree requirements must be fulfilled within a five-year timeframe.
Entry into this program requires an audition. Specific criteria and processes differ across disciplines; performance applicants should review the audition guidelines. While recorded submissions are accepted, in-person auditions are strongly encouraged.
