The Master of Music in String Pedagogy program is designed for graduate students seeking specialized training in teaching string instruments. Enhance your musical artistry and instructional abilities through this 33-credit program at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. The curriculum emphasizes essential teaching methodologies to help future students excel with string instruments. You'll deepen your proficiency on your chosen instrument through coursework focused on string pedagogy, private instruction, and ensemble participation. This program prepares you for careers as a private music educator or for advanced doctoral studies in performance and research. The String Pedagogy MM offers specialized training for bass, cello, harp, viola, and violin. Students engage in a combination of music education, performance, and theoretical studies. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the program includes participation in university ensembles, orchestral conducting training, and instruction in music research methodologies. Selected students may gain teaching experience with undergraduate string players. The flexible program allows for full-time or part-time study, with all classes held at Temple's Main Campus. Beyond core requirements, students complete a culminating project, which may be a lecture-recital, instructional method book, research paper, or teaching presentation.
