The Science Education specialization within the Secondary Education graduate program, accredited by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), demands proficiency in at least one scientific field along with complementary mathematics knowledge. Graduates gain insight into scientific principles and their intricate connections to societal contexts. Specialization options include Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, General Science, and Physics. This program provides pathways for either certification alone or certification combined with a master's degree. All candidates begin in the master's track, with the option to exit after meeting certification requirements or continue for the full degree. The curriculum mandates 25 credits for certification and 31 credits for the dual certification/master's degree option.
