The Middle Grades Education graduate program equips students to teach in grades 4 through 8, addressing the growing need for qualified middle-level educators in Pennsylvania and nationwide. Through the College of Education and Human Development, this program develops educators who are both skilled in teaching methods and dedicated to supporting diverse pre-adolescent learners across economic, cultural, and regional backgrounds. Our curriculum emphasizes specialized teaching strategies that meet academic standards while addressing the unique developmental requirements of middle school students.

The Master of Education (MEd) in Middle Grades prepares graduates to effectively educate students transitioning from elementary to high school, qualifying them to teach in both upper elementary and middle school settings. Graduates emerge with comprehensive expertise in educational theory and practice, along with a dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments. The program emphasizes mastery of subject-specific teaching methods that align with academic expectations and the evolving needs of young adolescents.
