The Master of Arts in Musical Theater Studies equips graduate students to advance their expertise across acting, music, and dance/movement, preparing them for careers in education, performance, production, or direction. Traditionally, U.S. students seeking graduate-level musical theater education had to opt for either a Master of Fine Arts or a Master of Music, as dedicated master's programs in musical theater were uncommon. Temple University now offers the sole M.A. in Musical Theater Studies that blends academic coursework with hands-on training in performance, directing, choreography, and education, ensuring balanced development across all aspects of musical theater production. Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the appropriate baccalaureate degree at Temple University.

Standardized Test Scores:
Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master's degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:

IELTS Academic: 7.0
The minimum admissions standard for all graduate students is ordinarily an undergraduate grade point average of B or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the functional equivalent for students who have attended universities outside of the United States.
