Communication Studies is an interdisciplinary program focused on academic exploration. It combines aesthetic, analytical, critical, historical, and theoretical approaches to communication, drawing from various departments within the Klein College of Media and Communication. The program offers flexibility, enabling students to explore diverse areas within the communications field while fostering individual academic development. Through customizable options, students can efficiently complete their degree requirements. Within this interdisciplinary framework, Communication Studies students choose from specialized tracks: - Communication and Entrepreneurship - Contemporary Media Environments - Global Civil Society - Policy, Regulation and Advocacy - Production (exclusive to Temple Japan students) An advanced Major of Distinction track is also available for high-achieving students. The program provides opportunities for hands-on learning, including internships, fieldwork, and study abroad experiences essential for a well-rounded education. It attracts students with varied skills and interests, preparing graduates for diverse career paths or further studies in graduate, law, or professional schools. Graduates emerge equipped for roles across the communications industry. The Policy, Regulation, and Advocacy track specifically examines citizen engagement in communication policy, exploring historical and modern examples through social movements, civic journalism, artistic expression, and advocacy groups focused on race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and environmental issues.
