The Master of Science programs in Music Education equip graduates to become creative musicians, inspiring teachers, and passionate arts advocates within their schools and communities.
These collaborative programs offered by the School of Education's Department of Teaching and Leadership and The Setnor School of Music create an exceptional learning environment where students cultivate the knowledge and abilities needed to evolve into accomplished, self-directed educators and lifelong music learners. Syracuse University offers three distinct Music Education master's degree options tailored to your current New York State teaching credentials and professional goals:

The Music Education: Professional M.S. program is designed for educators who already possess New York State initial Music certification (all grades) and wish to specialize in education. This pathway satisfies the academic requirements for professional Music certification in New York.
The Music Education: Professional M.Mus. program caters to certified Music teachers (initial certification, all grades) who want to focus on musical advancement. This program meets the professional certification standards for Music education in New York State.
