The M.S. programs in Arts Education equip graduates to become creative practitioners, skilled educators, and passionate advocates for arts integration within schools and local communities.
These collaborative programs, offered through both the School of Education's Department of Teaching and Leadership and The College of Visual and Performing Arts, develop professional competencies and teaching approaches rooted in artistic practice and core principles, fostering interdisciplinary community engagement and creative problem-solving. Syracuse University offers two distinct Arts Education master's programs tailored to your current New York State teaching credentials:
The Arts Education: Preparation track serves individuals with artistic training but lacking formal art certification. This pathway fulfills all academic prerequisites for obtaining both initial and professional New York State teaching certification in Visual Arts (K-12).
The Arts Education: Professional track is designed for educators holding current New York State initial certification in Visual Arts (K-12), meeting all requirements for advancing to professional certification.
