The Science Education Ph.D. program equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to analyze, improve, and advance science and STEM education research and instructional approaches, while promoting fairness in learning environments.
Housed in the Department of Teaching & Leadership, this program helps students formulate personalized research objectives and prepares them to conduct independent scholarly investigations at leading academic and research organizations. Science education doctoral candidates gain extensive research experience, starting with their coursework, progressing through guided preliminary studies, and culminating in their dissertation work. Students may also collaborate with professors as research assistants through various arrangements like assistantships or independent studies.
This doctoral program mandates at least 90 graduate credits post-bachelor's degree, including 9-24 dissertation credits. Full-time students typically finish within 3-4 years after completing their master's, while part-time options accommodate working professionals, including current educators.
