Syracuse University's Cognitive Psychology graduate program provides doctoral (Ph.D.) training with optional specializations in Neuroscience or Quantitative studies. The program explores core cognitive and neural mechanisms through experimental approaches, statistical analysis, computational models, and animal research. Our studies focus on essential mental functions including memory systems, attentional processes, analogical reasoning, conceptual categorization, problem-solving strategies, decision-making, and the neuroscience of learning. These investigations enhance knowledge of human cognition in both controlled and real-world settings.
Our structured curriculum equips students with vital academic training and hands-on research experience for professional paths in academia or industry. Coursework covers diverse domains:
Statistical analysis
Research methodologies
Cognitive/neural foundations
Supplementary electives beyond core cognitive psychology
