The Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Syracuse University welcomes students to start full-time studies each fall. Our program's structure has been carefully designed to address both professional psychology standards and the unique requirements of each student. During their initial two years, Clinical Psychology doctoral candidates generally pursue a shared core curriculum. This foundational coursework guarantees all students gain thorough instruction in statistical methods, research methodology, psychological theory, and essential competencies in evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Candidates must also finalize their Master's thesis by their second or third academic year.
Beyond fulfilling the standard doctoral requirements in Clinical Psychology, academically qualified students may pursue the Neuroscience Concentration, noted as a specialization on official transcripts. This four-course sequence covers diverse neuroscience domains, integrating biological and psychological perspectives to deliver comprehensive interdisciplinary training. Admission is granted to the Clinical Psychology program first, with neuroscience studies undertaken subsequently. Upon completion, graduates receive their Ph.D. from the Psychology department, with the Neuroscience Concentration formally recognized as a specialization area on their degree.
