The doctoral program in business administration equips exceptional candidates for careers in academic research within higher education. Focusing intensely on research, the curriculum emphasizes scholarly excellence and readiness for an academic career across various business disciplines including accounting, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, management, information systems, statistics, and supply chain management. Students must complete a complementary field either within the Whitman School of Management or another university department. Graduates will: possess comprehensive knowledge of foundational literature in their chosen specialization (finance, accounting, etc.); master research methodologies essential for conducting rigorous, meaningful studies; identify, formulate, and examine important academic research questions; generate original, publication-worthy research; and develop teaching proficiency as both assistants and instructors in their field of expertise.
